GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The Humanities Department, a part of the School of Arts and Sciences at Greenville Technical College, seeks qualified Instructors/Assistant Professors to teach History.

The Humanities Department currently employs 11 full-time and 25 part-time instructors who are student-focused and diversity-driven. We offer a variety of courses for students earning degrees in Applied Sciences, Associate in Arts, and Associate in Sciences, many of whom plan to transfer for a baccalaureate degree.

The mission of the Humanities Department is to prepare students to become life-long learners and well-rounded individuals who use their knowledge and skills to contribute to society. Most courses are offered in traditional and online formats.

In this challenging role, you will support the Humanities/History department at Greenville Technical College. Duties may include any or all of the following:

Teach History courses

Prepare lectures/syllabi/tests

Grade/assess student work

Develop/implement new classroom strategies

Consult with students

Advise on academic progress

Perform other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A Doctorate or a Master’s degree in History OR a Doctorate or a Master’s degree in a related field with 18 graduate hours in History

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to work with colleagues/students and to convey knowledge in a form that students can understand. Adaptable to students’ needs, to different teaching situations, and be able to motivate students. Able to work in teams and independently. Experience teaching HIS 122 – History, Technology, and Society is preferred. Previous teaching experience.
