£42,792 to £49,553 per annum

The School of Politics, Philosophy, Language and Communication Studies at the University of East Anglia wishes to appoint a Lecturer in Broadcast and Multimedia  Journalism. The post is full-time but a job share would be considered.

This is an exciting opportunity to teach broadcast and multimedia journalism to students at undergraduate and postgraduate level. You will be joining the small practical journalism team within a leading Politics department, and will help that team secure and maintain BJTC accreditation for a new UG degree. Teaching will encompass all aspects of modern journalism, technical, production and editorial.

We are looking for an experienced professional broadcast journalist or lecturer with current journalism experience to teach on our popular postgraduate and new undergraduate journalism degrees. The BJTC requires that post-holders in this capacity have significant current or recent industry experience. The ideal candidate would have experience in radio or TV journalism as well as the ability to work across media and online. We’re particularly interested in hearing from candidates with an interest in and experience of media law and public affairs. Some experience of HE teaching is desirable but not essential

The post-holder is expected to:

  • Design and deliver engaging lectures, seminars and workshops at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
  • Work closely with existing team to secure and maintain BJTC accreditation.
  • Advise Undergraduate and Postgraduate students, attend Open Days and Applicant Days and carry out administrative duties commensurate with experience and career stage.

This full-time post is available from 1 September 2021 on an indefinite basis.

We strongly encourage applicants from Black, Asian or other minority ethnic backgrounds and welcome applications from all protected groups as defined by the Equality Act 2010. Appointment will be made on merit.

Closing date:  12 July 2021

The University is a Silver Athena Swan Award holder.
