Essential Job Functions: 1. Teach a combination of eight undergraduate/graduate course sections per year in various formats as necessary (on campus days, on-campus evenings, off-campus, online, etc.).

2. Participate in curriculum or program development, as assigned.

3. Be accessible to students according to College guidelines; maintain regular office hours for student advising and consultation.

4. Serve and contribute to appropriate College and University committees.

5. Contribute to grant writing and sponsored programs related to discipline.

6. Provide community service and participate in University, College, and Departmental functions that contribute to campus life such as athletic events, orientation, receptions, etc. Contribute to fostering alumni relations. Commencement, College faculty meetings, and Departmental faculty meeting participation is mandatory.

7. Continue professional development activities.

8. Other duties as assigned by the Chair of the Department of Humanities and Politics and/or the Dean.

Marginal Job Functions:
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Proficiency in use of computer hardware and curriculum related software. Strong record in the use of digital technology in teaching and research preferred.

Job Requirements:Required Certifications/Licensures:
Required Education: Doctoral Degree

Major (if required): History or Security Studies or related discipline.

Required Experience: Prior college-level teaching experience

Preferred Qualifications: Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses History and related disciplines such as National Security Affairs and International Studies. Record of teaching and research in U.S. history with an emphasis on one or more of the following: a) intelligence and espionage; b) domestic security; c) civil liberties and the law. Secondary focus on the Atlantic World or the Middle East or Africa a plus.
