Lecturer in Politics of the Middle East – SOAS University of London.

Hours:  35 hours per week

The Department of Politics and International Studies at SOAS invites applications for a Lectureship in Politics of the Middle East (fixed term, one year) starting in September 2021.

The Department is known for its deep engagement with the political realities of Africa, Asia and the Middle East and for providing innovative and challenging perspectives for understanding these realities. Comprehensive coverage of the politics of the Middle East has traditionally been a key strength of the Department and its MSc Middle East Politics programme is one of the largest in the world and widely respected.

About you

We are looking for a scholar with demonstrated excellence in teaching and a promising research profile. The appointee will strengthen and work with the Department’s group of Middle East scholars and actively contribute to the delivery of our undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, specifically the modules ‘Government and Politics of the Middle East’ and ‘State and Transformation in the Middle East’. We are open as to thematic specialism, but particularly welcome applications from candidates with a background in comparative or international politics of the Middle East.
