Applications are invited for the position of Director of the John W. Gallivan Program in Journalism, Ethics, and Democracy in the University of Notre Dame. The interdisciplinary Gallivan Program offers a robust undergraduate minor in journalism; its Director plays the leading role in the University’s efforts to train ethically sensitive journalists who understand the role of a free press in a democratic society and are familiar with the multiple converging media that form the context for journalism today. Candidates should have extensive journalistic experience and a distinguished profile in the field. The Director will teach undergraduate courses on the history and practice of journalism, journalistic ethics, and journalism in society, while also directing

The Gallivan Program, with responsibilities for planning the curriculum, organizing public lectures and visits to campus by active professional journalists, and arranging student internships across the country. A PhD is preferred for this position, but candidates with a terminal degree and/or extensive industry experience will be given full consideration. This is a non-tenure-track position as teaching faculty.
