Position Summary

The Department of Political Science at Jackson State University seeks applications for its Assistant Professor of Political Science position beginning August 2022.

Minimum Required Education

A PhD in Political Science with a concentration/specialization in Legal Studies or a JD from an ABA-accredited law school prior to the start date.

Minimum Required Experience

Applicants should have teaching experience.

Applicants should have with experience in mentoring, advising, and working with students from diverse backgrounds.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Conduct research on Legal Studies.

Have an active research agenda and publish work.

Write grants and obtain funding.

Teach Legal Studies courses.

Be able to teach Legal Research and Writing, Introduction to Law and II, Constitutional Law I and II, and LSAT Survey.

Must perform meaningful service. Examples of desired contributions include assisting with fundraising and curriculum development, academic advising, advising student groups, and serving on department, college, and university committees.

Attend department meetings/events and help implement the department strategic plan.
