Widener University is currently seeking an Assistant Professor of Art History – Tenure Track in the College of Arts and Sciences starting in the 2022 academic year. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching. Duties will include teaching art history classes at all levels for both Visual and Performing Arts majors and general education students, as well as research classes for majors. Candidates with a secondary area of studio art and/or arts administration are encouraged to highlight their additional strengths.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):
Essential duties:
Teach art history for undergraduate general education classes and Visual and Performing Arts majors

Engage in research conducted with undergraduate students, publication of research activities, and academic citizenship at all levels within the university.

Secondary responsibilities:
Advise undergraduate students related to course selection, majors and related areas

Engage in department leadership activities

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required):

Required:
PhD in Art History. ABD candidates may be considered if the degree will be completed by May 2022

Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate education

Preferred:
Experience in teaching art history or teaching in art-related field

Secondary area in studio art, arts management, or museumology
