About the Department
The College of Business and Economics is AACSB accredited. The Department of Economics graduates roughly 100 majors per year (including combined majors) and has 17 full-time faculty members. The department values excellence in teaching and the faculty publish regularly in high quality journals. See the department website for more information. About the Position
Tenure-track position in Economics at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning September 2022. The successful candidate will teach multiple classes in econometrics (e.g., introduction to econometrics, econometrics, or time series and forecasting) at the undergraduate level, and additional classes in resource/environmental or energy economics.
Teach courses in economics at the undergraduate and possibly MBA levels (with an emphasis on courses in econometrics and lighter emphasis on courses in resource/environmental economics or related). In addition, scholarly research and publication, student advising, and participation in college and university activities are integral components of this appointment. Effective teaching and publication in refereed journals are required for tenure and promotion. The successful candidate will be expected to fulfill teaching and mentoring responsibilities in ways that provide equitable and inclusive learning environments for all students.
Required Qualifications
Economics PhD at time of application or ABD at time of application. If ABD at time of appointment, all degree requirements must be completed by June 15th of the first year of employment.
Record of teaching effectiveness or demonstrated clear potential.
Evidence of strong research ability.
Evidence of work in applied microeconomics, with an emphasis on or field in econometrics.
Secondary field or evidence of work in resource/environmental economics, energy economics, or similar.
Demonstrated ability and commitment to cultivating learning environments that are equitable and inclusive of students with diverse social identities and backgrounds

Your submission must include a Contributions to ADEI Statement that describes your past efforts, as well as future plans to advance accessibility, diversity, equity and inclusion. Some faculty candidates may not have substantial past activities. In such cases, we recommend focusing on future plans in your statement, though demonstrated past activities will be given greater weight. For purposes of evaluating contributions to diversity, under-represented groups (URGs) includes under-represented ethnic or racial minorities (URM), women, LGBTQ, first-generation college, people with disabilities, and people from underprivileged backgrounds.
Description of Past Activities
For all past activities, please be specific about the context, your role, scope or level of effort, and the impact. Below are examples of activities that contribute to ADEI.
Mentoring/Tutoring: This includes leading or participating in mentoring, advising, or tutoring programs for underrepresented groups, including faculty, postdocs, students, or the broader community.
Educational Outreach: This includes sustained outreach efforts aimed at underrepresented students; attendance at a conference aimed at recruiting, supporting, or advancing URGs; participation in panels or talks as a speaker on related issues.
Research Activities: This includes research (articles, editorials, etc.) that contributes to understanding the barriers facing URGs in higher education or that otherwise contributes to diversity and equal opportunity.
Other (e.g. recruitment/retention/teaching): These include efforts to diversify your research group or lab; other efforts to diversify your department or field; development or use of pedagogies that address different learning styles and/or learning disabilities; development of a course on ADEI issues.
