Job Description

The University of Washington’s Division of Hematology and Oncology has an outstanding opportunity for a Fiscal Specialist 1.

The Division includes faculty members located at the UW Medical Center, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center and the VA Puget Sound Health System.

The Fiscal Specialist provides a broad range of low-level financial duties using independent judgement. The Fiscal Specialist assists the Division Finance Manager in managing entire financial portfolio estimated at over 350 budgets. Budgets are a variety of types mainly, but not limited to, clinical trial, grant, contract, cooperative agreement, sub-awards, as well as gift and surplus budgets.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Pay invoices through PO, Non-PO, procard and other UW payment methods.
  • Create PO’s for recurring invoices and sub-awards, communicate with vendors to submit invoices to PO’s.
  • Process research subject payments, faculty staff and patient reimbursements in Workday
  • Extend Worktags in advance of end date
  • Reconcile and invoice for centrally held contracts
  • Register new suppliers/vendors
  • Maintain all fiscal documentation required for audit/regulatory compliance
  • Monitor and manage Division central finance email
  • Keep trackers and information sheets up to date
  • Assist with ECC reviews
  • Perform other duties as requested

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Two years of experience providing administrative support in the area of fiscal and/or business management or equivalent education/experience.

Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with UW procurement and travel policies and procedures
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Effective organizational, written communication, and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • Strong math and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and concurrently on multiple projects with frequent interruption.
  • Possess and eagerness to work in an environment with a healthy workload of paper and electronic tasks
  • Maintain a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality

Pay Range Minimum:

$47,448.00 annual

Pay Range Maximum:

$63,468.00 annual
