The Project Coordinator will be responsible for providing managerial leadership to the project, managing and supporting the day-to-day activities and resources of the project, with special emphasis on coordination and networking, management, and mobilization of resources.

Responsibilities

  • Identify capacity building needs and opportunities. Ensure appropriate training, project workshops and other relevant activities are organized and implemented in a consultative manner, involving technical experts and stakeholders that may include the government, private sector, NGOs, donors, and/or academia;
  • Ensure project reports capture results, lessons learned and good practices for possible wider application;
  • Participate in and ensure sound contributions to knowledge networks and communities of practice on development and project related issues. Support establishment of knowledge platforms for the project, facilitate innovative mechanisms for dissemination of knowledge from the project, and develop knowledge resources and products to share with project partners and to support UNDP’s engagement in this area;
  • Promote advocacy for UNDP’s work and opportunities for collaboration in addressing development trends in coordination with the project partners, stakeholders, and UNDP communications staff.
  • Ensure the principles of gender equality, democratic governance, social inclusion and human rights are effectively reflected in all project activities;
  • Ensure that gender equality is pursued in all project activities and reflected in work plans, budgets, reports, research, analyses and, where specifically relevant, analyzed in detail;
  • Ensure that accessibility for persons with disabilities is reflected in all project activities;
  • Consult regularly with other UNDP projects and programs on related activities where synergies are possible;
  • Strive to engage groups and communities in project activities that affect them;
  • Communicate project goals and activities clearly to both stakeholders and the wider public.
  • Maintaining strong relationships with the implementing partners, KNPA, USPC and other relevant partners and donors;
  • Maintaining regular coordination and quality assurance of expert inputs and products as well as among project partners to ensure coherence and complementarity of project activities;
  • Identifying opportunities for deepening the cooperation and recommending adequate approaches to dealing with different stakeholders based on information on all relevant stakeholders gathered during projects’ implementation, including the Global Partnership on TF-GBV in partnership with UNDP’s Gender Team, and other initiatives led by UNFPA, UN Women and UNODC;
  • Maintaining regular communication on relevant project issues with the local and international counterparties, consultants and experts and ensuring quality and timely delivery of all agreed outputs;
  • Maintaining effective linkages with KNPA and other potential donors;
  • Submitting reports to UNDP, partners and donors in a quality and timely manner;
  • Support resource mobilization efforts and project development.

Education:

  • Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in International Relations, Political Science, Development Studies, Criminology, Law, Social Sciences, Human Rights, Gender Studies or relevant field of study is required.
  • A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in the areas stated above, in combination with an additional two years of qualifying experience will be given due consideration in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Work Experience:

A minimum of 5 years (with master’s degree) or 7 years (with bachelor’s degree) of professional work experience on policy and programme development in a related field, including peace and security, law enforcement, rule of law, human rights, gender, and governance, is required.

Languages:

  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Fluency in Korean is highly desirable.
  • Working knowledge of one or more UN Official language(s) would be an advantage.
