Job Description
The Department of Social Sciences includes programs in Criminology and Criminal Justice, Political Science, and Sociology and is housed in the College of Arts and Sciences. The Political Science program includes eight full-time faculty and serves approximately 80 undergraduate majors. The department has a strong commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational environment.
We invite applications for a Lecturer specializing in legal studies or public administration to begin in August 2022 . The position is non-tenure track but offers the potential of reappointment and promotion to Senior Lecturer. This position is designed for instructors who prioritize good pedagogy and student mentoring. The normal teaching load is four courses per semester. The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to teach Federal and/or Texas government as well as courses in a specialization area. In addition to teaching, the position entails service responsibilities that may include service to the program, department, university or community.
Required Education and Experience:
Ph.D. in Political Science or a closely related field.
ABD’s near completion will also be considered.
One year teaching experience in a university setting is required.
Demonstrated specialization in Political Science or a related sub-field.
Preferred Education and Experience:
PhD in Political Science or closely related field.
Expertise in legal studies or public administration is preferred, along with a record of excellence in teaching.
A highly qualified candidate will demonstrate dedication to student-centered learning and principles of diversity, inclusion, and social justice.
