Responsibilities

The University of Akron, Department of Economics invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in labor economics (JEL classification J and/or I1) and applied econometrics (JEL classification C1 or C8), starting August 2022. The successful candidate will also have potential for success in achieving external funding. Teaching responsibilities will include courses in introductory economics, econometrics, labor economics, game theory and other courses in the candidate’s area of expertise. Additional responsibilities include advising students, leading students’ capstone senior project, assisting in curriculum development, and participating in other departmental activities as assigned by the department chair.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must have a PhD in Economics by August 22, 2022 and show evidence of high potential for excellence in teaching and significant research publishable in quality peer-reviewed economics journals.

Preferred Qualifications

Willingness and ability to become proficient in teaching SAS programming for data analytics and to teach an undergraduate game theory class.

Salary

The Department of Economics is in the College of Business and offers an undergraduate B.A. degree in Economics and a B.B.A degree in Business Data Analytics. Our undergraduate programs provide majors with broad knowledge of important theoretical aspects of economics as well as expertise in empirical analysis.
