About the position
The Department of Archaeology and History has an opportunity for an early career historian to join a vibrant and collegiate community of researchers and teachers. This is a replacement position for Dr Ruth Gamble who has been awarded an ARC DECRA fellowship. The position is based in the Department of Archaeology and History which is located within the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. The management of the teaching and research activities of the program is overseen by the Head of the Department of Archaeology and History. The Department also hosts the Centre for the Study of the Inland.
The Department of Archaeology and History combines two of the University’s strongest areas of research and teaching. History achieved a rating of 4 in the 2018 ERA rankings. In the Times Higher Education World University Rankings La Trobe is ranked in the top 200 globally for Arts, Social Sciences and Communications. Skills and Experience
A Level A teaching and research academic is expected to contribute to teaching particularly at undergraduate level and to develop their scholarly, research and/or professional expertise relevant to the profession or discipline. They will work with subject coordinators to develop a high-quality learning experience that engages students through the delivery of lectures, tutorials, and workshops.
A Level B teaching and research academic is expected to develop curriculum, teach and undertake research or other scholarly work relevant to the development of their discipline or professional field. They will developing, coordinate and teach at undergraduate and postgraduate level, providing a high quality learning experience that engages students through the conduct of lectures, tutorials, workshops, blended learning and other activities.
