Lecturer in Philosophy: The Department of Philosophy and Political Science at The University of Alabama in Huntsville invites applications for a full-time, 18-month lecturer appointment beginning January 2022. Ideal candidates will be serious educators and scholars with excellent teaching skills and prior online teaching experience. The successful candidate will have a teaching load of four courses (12 credit hours) for the semester; at least two of these sections will be Introduction to Philosophy, with other introductory-level undergraduate courses in philosophy set by arrangement with the department chair. The successful candidate will teach most of these courses in-person, but some may be online. Experience with both formats will be favorably considered. The successful candidate also will value inclusiveness and diversity and support our commitment to equity. The preferred qualification is a Ph.D. in Philosophy; the minimum qualification for the position is an M.A. in Philosophy.

About the College: The College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at The University of Alabama in Huntsville comprises 9 departments and 84 full-time faculty. We offer a wide array of programs in the arts, humanities, and social sciences including 21 B.A. programs, five M.A. programs, and eight certificate programs. The college has also led the way in creating several interdisciplinary minors, such as Women’s and Gender Studies, Global Studies, and Game Design and Development. Our class sizes are relatively small and our collegial faculty are committed to our students’ successes.

About the Department: The Department of Philosophy and Political Science offers a B.A. in Philosophy, a B.A. in Political Science, an M.A. in Public Affairs & Policy, undergraduate minors in philosophy and political science, an undergraduate certificate in Pre-Law, and a graduate certificate in International Security Policy. Faculty are committed to excellence in teaching, research and service.
