The Arizona State University’s College of Health Solutions (CHS) Health Science and Healthcare Delivery rapidly expanding programs are seeking a full-time, 9-month non-tenured instructional faculty member at the rank of Lecturer. This position will lead graduates to develop innovative solutions for careers in the health care workforce using foundational knowledge in health care administration, health care systems, and health policy. Concepts of leadership, informatics,  economics, and the delivery of evidence based care are emphasized. Faculty in the program are multidisciplinary, and include both tenure-track and clinically trained professionals who work together to create, teach and disseminate foundational knowledge. This is a fixed-term appointment that is renewable annually.  Subsequent one-year appointments may be offered, under the same terms and conditions, at the discretion of the college and university.

Through teaching, academic programs, service and research, all faculty at the College of Health Solutions address one or more of our three major areas of focus: 1) The systems of health care and the health needs of populations; 2) Health and human performance of individuals across the lifespan; 3) Personalized interventions through precision health. Across these areas, we work to address Grand Challenges, complex and difficult health problems which require transformative collaboration, translational research and innovation. We are particularly interested in making an impact on populations with significant health disparities.

Responsibilities for this position include teaching undergraduate courses in health care economics and finance on-line and/or in-person at the downtown Phoenix campus and providing service to the college and relevant degrees. The position may include teaching in-person at either the Polytechnic campus or West campus. Applicants must present evidence of teaching experience and a strong commitment to high quality teaching at the undergraduate level. Typical workloads for instructional faculty are consistent with 80% teaching (usually equivalent to four courses per semester) and 20% service.

About the College of Health Solutions

The College of Health Solutions is committed to translating scientific health research and discovery into practice to improve health outcomes through education, research and service. We equip students with the knowledge and skills to influence healthier lifestyle choices; develop creative interventions to improve the health of people and populations; analyze and translate large amounts of health data into solutions; and maximize the technology, science, business and application of diagnostics. Our research programs encompass basic science, discovery science, clinical trials, intervention science and measurement of health outcomes. In all cases, our faculty use interdisciplinary approaches to address the complex systems that underpin health problems. We are highly collaborative, transparent and team-oriented. Our innovative organizational structure includes translational teams that move science from labs into communities with evidence-based interventions that make a difference, as well as affinity networks where teams of people work together to improve methodologies and processes. All of our programs, in and out of the classroom, are designed with the goal of improving the health of people and communities.

Current training programs include behavioral health, biomedical diagnostics, biomedical informatics, exercise science, health promotion, health sciences, kinesiology, medical studies, nutrition, population health, the science of health care delivery, and speech and hearing science. Our programs are offered at the ASU Downtown Phoenix, Tempe, Polytechnic, West and Lake Havasu campuses, as well as on Mayo Clinic’s campus in north Phoenix.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in economics, health services research, business administration, health economics, public health, or related fields
•  At least 1 year of on-line or in-person teaching experience/graduate assistant teaching experience
• Demonstrated ability to work, collaborate, and communicate effectively with diverse students, colleagues, community partners, and staff in a multicultural environment.
• Shows commitment to our College’s Justice Equity Diversity and Inclusion Council’s mission and vision .

Desired Qualifications

• Experience teaching large undergraduate courses
• Experience teaching a health economics and/or health finance course
• Evidence of applying effective teaching practices
• Nationally recognized credential related to core professional area(s) of expertise
• Record of service to professional organization(s) and/or community agencies related to core professional area(s) of expertise
• Healthcare administration, public health, and/or healthcare economic policy experience
• A terminal degree in health economics or related field
• Demonstrated ability to provide service to the program and university, as well as to the community and profession.
• Experience in implementing instructional methods, student initiatives, faculty initiatives, scholarships, administrative practices, or other actions with the goal of reducing systemic discrimination and disadvantages facing students of minority backgrounds
