US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said they wanted Turkey and Greece to resolve their differences through dialogue.

“BOTH COUNTRIES ARE FRIENDS OF THE USA”

Blinken and Stoltenberg attended the North Atlantic Council meeting at NATO headquarters in Brussels. Answering questions at the joint press conference held later, Blinken said the following in response to the question about the tension between Turkey and Greece:

“Both countries are vital allies and friends of the United States. They have differences. We would like to see these differences resolved through dialogue in a constructive way. This has happened in the past. We expect them to solve it this way again.”

CALL FOR DIPLOMACY FROM NATO TO TWO COUNTRIES

NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg said, “Turkey and Greece are two very valuable allies. They contribute to NATO in many different ways. The differences between them must of course be resolved through diplomatic means.” used the phrases. Stoltenberg also reminded that a de-escalation mechanism was established in NATO in order to prevent any dangerous situation between Turkey and Greece and this has been used before.
