The Supreme Election Council (YSK) ruled today (May 10) that the police and gendarmerie assigned to ballot boxes by the Ministry of Interior will not be able to record the election results in files on the Security and Emergency Coordination Center Presidency (GAMER) page of the Ministry.
Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu’s proposal, rejected by the YSK, was justifying that police and gendarmerie would be present at the ballot boxes, prepare the election results on excel files and send them to the GAMER page.
What happened?
Applying to the YSK, the Interior Ministry had requested to receive the data on ballot boxes in the provinces, districts, neighborhoods and the schools, the numbers of the ballot boxes and the numbers of the voters.
The Supreme Election Council (YSK) has rejected the request, saying “The election boards are authorized for the elections. GAMER does not have any duty related to the elections. (NT/PE)
