There appears to be a fresh division within the ruling People’s Alliance in Turkey.
The leader of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), a party allied with the government, Devlet Bahçeli, has brought up a corruption investigation that the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) faced 11 years ago.
Ali Koç, the President of Fenerbahçe Sports Club, visited Bahçeli at his office at the MHP headquarters on August 19. Subsequently, the party disseminated photographs of the visit on their social media platform.
The same clock adorned his workplace in 2015. During a visit by Can Dündar, a journalist who is currently in exile, the time was adjusted to 17:25. Ahçeli informed Dündar, “I accomplished the task independently.” At 17.25, I removed the battery. We are determined to fulfill our commitment to holding [this probe] to account.”
