Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli has rejected speculation of divisions within the ruling People’s Alliance, insisting the partnership with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s AKP remains intact. In a written statement, Bahçeli said, “No one will be able to sow seeds of discord into the People’s Alliance. Even if they attempt to do so, they will not succeed. The People’s Alliance is not a glass vase that can crack and be damaged.”

Bahçeli also voiced support for Erdoğan’s recent calls for dialogue and peace in global conflict zones, describing them as “a beacon of hope for resolving deepening problems.” He said ignoring such appeals would “contradict the principles of justice and truth and escalate crises,” adding that Turkey’s goal was “lasting peace and tranquility” both at home and abroad, citing a “terror-free Turkey” as a key objective.

Addressing domestic politics, Bahçeli dismissed CHP leader Özgür Özel’s request for an extraordinary parliamentary session on Gaza, calling it unnecessary. He criticized the opposition party’s approach as damaging to Turkey’s political culture and said attempts to question the cohesion of the People’s Alliance had “no value or significance.”

The MHP leader described the alliance as “the Turkish nation’s hope for the future, its horizon of independence, and its existential guarantee,” emphasizing that it had grown stronger since its formation during the July 2016 coup attempt.

Bahçeli also launched a broadside against the main opposition, accusing the CHP of political and ethical failings. “The CHP is sick,” he said, alleging that the party had “sold off its memories and dignity” and turned into “the breeding ground of theft gangs and the command center of looting.” He claimed the party had failed to produce constructive policy proposals on either domestic or foreign issues.

He concluded by saying the People’s Alliance remained the central pillar of Turkey’s political stability: “The People’s Alliance is the axis of faith, conscience, and the union of nation and homeland.”
