The department recently redesigned our undergraduate program and offers the BA in communication studies. Our current teaching load is five courses across three academic quarters. Position Summary

The Department of Communication Studies at the University of Denver seeks to hire a tenure track Assistant Professor, who will start at the beginning of the 2022-2023 academic year. We seek a teacher-scholar in political communication with research interests, for example, in social movements/activism, race/ethnicity/gender, community/civic engagement, deliberation, political organizations, and/or political affect and identities.

Essential Functions

Teaching responsibilities include the ability and desire to teach undergraduate courses in political communication, courses in the applicant’s area of research specialty, introductory communication theory, introduction to communication studies, and other courses in the undergraduate curriculum.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Candidates should have a demonstrated commitment to working with diverse student and community populations.

Required Qualifications

  • ABD in Communication Studies.
  • Publications and research agenda in Communication Studies.
  • Excellent university level teaching experience in Communication Studies.
  • Demonstrated or potential for service to academic institutions, the discipline, and the community is also expected.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Communication Studies.

Salary Grade Number:
The salary grade for the position is UC.

Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $71,000-$76,000.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
