History and Government
Cedarville University seeks an Assistant Professor of History within the Department of History and Government for Fall 2022. The post is tenure track eligible. Expertise in American history, with a focus on the founding era, is preferred. Applicants with second fields in African, Asian, public history, or those with secondary education credentials are especially encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will be responsible for general education courses in U.S. History, as well as upper-level offerings within the area of expertise. Candidates will be asked to teach from a distinctively Christian worldview.
The teaching load is twenty-four semester hours per year (two semesters). Additional expectations include academic advising, professional development, scholarly activity in the field, university service, and maintaining a working knowledge of biblical texts and appropriate discipline-specific integration.
This position is subject to the University’s verification of credentials and other information required by law and Cedarville University policies, including the successful completion of a background check. Review of credentials will begin upon posting and will continue until the position is filled. This position is pending budget approval.
Position Requirements:
- Terminal degree in discipline: PhD (ABD candidates will be considered), or M.A. in addition to secondary certification
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a team member
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Documented successful teaching and scholarship experience
- Committed to biblical integration in and out of the classroom
- A born-again Christian with a personal commitment to Jesus Christ
