İYİ Party Chair Meral Akşener spoke at the Parliamentary group meeting of her party in Ankara yesterday (March 30).

Talking about the economic crisis in Turkey, Meral Akşener once again addressed President and ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) Chair Recep Tayyip Erdoğan as “Mr. Crisis” and criticized the “healthy living advice” that he had given during a meeting in Tokat.

On Sunday, Erdoğan said, “I will make an advice. This is what I do: Every evening, before going to bed, water buffalo yogurt… It is really quality, very nice. I add some Medina dates, 3 or 5. I put some chestnut honey and oatmeal, too. I mix these four, eat them and go to bed. Sure cure…”

‘A kilo of water buffalo yogurt costs 70 lira’

İYİ Party’s Akşener criticized this advice as follows:

“Feeling no shame, Mr. Crisis comes up and gives healthy living advice to citizens. I mean, unbelievable… I said it last week, ‘They will tell us to go and eat cake’. Here we are, he said it.

“He has taken on being a life coach. All dieticians of the country have been panicked. Water buffalo yogurt, chestnut honey, Medina date and oatmeal… We are supposed to mix and eat them at night. And before going to bed… All diet rules are upside down. As it is a ‘sure cure’…

A kilogram of water buffalo yogurt costs 70 lira, 700 grams of Medina dates cost 205 lira, chestnut honey costs 250 lira, half a kilogram of oatmeal costs 15 lira… How will this sure cure come in the households of minimum wage earners?

‘They very well know their own injustice’

On economic crisis, Akşener said, “Wages are melting, our money is still losing value. Making the same promises as the 2007, 2011, 2015 and even 2019 elections and opening the already opened facilities, they keep themselves busy with supposed shows of action”, adding:

“The misery of our pensioners, civil servants and shopkeepers cannot come to the agenda of Mr. Crisis. AKP’s incompetent cadres keep enjoying themselves at the palace, receiving 3, 5, 10 salaries”.

Criticizing the state officials receiving more than one wage, İYİ Party Chair Akşener said, “Trying to back talk to us about every subject, not a single government official can say, ‘Who gets five salaries, show it’. Because they know their own injustice and unfairness the best”.

She asked, “Why would a vice minister get a salary from three different places? With what conscience would a vice minister pocket 314 thousand lira wage a month? How come a single appointed person of this government gets 75 minimum wages by himself?”

Akşener said, “They eat as if that ballot box would never come. They eat until they cough, they sneeze, they overeat”. (AS/SD)
