Osman Zolan, a mayoral candidate from the ranks of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) for the western Turkish province of Denizli, has promised to create a public beach in the province, which does not have a coastline or any large body of water, the Diken news website reported on Tuesday.
Turkey will hold local elections on March 31.
Talking about his projects for the new term if he is elected mayor, Zolan, who is also the current mayor, said a large public beach would be made in the province.
He said although Denizli’s name means a place that has a sea in Turkish, Denizli has no sea, and a public beach would be created in the province with large fitness centers and outdoor wedding venues.
“As a mayor who has been in this business for 15 years and knows Denizli very well, I know what Denizli needs and set out my goals accordingly,” Zolan said.
