According to the Turkish Foreign Ministry, the two sides discussed bilateral relations and common issues on the agenda during the meeting, Fars News reported.

The meeting came a few days after Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian and his Turkish counterpart, Mevlut Cavusoglu, in a phone conversation, exchanged views on the latest border developments and military conflicts between Turkey and Syria.

During the talks, Amir Abdollahian said the Islamic Republic understands Turkey’s security concerns and stressed the need for ending the concerns, according to the Iranian foreign ministry.

Achieving that goal necessitates constant security talks between the two countries, said the Iranian foreign minister, adding that a resort to ground military operations will not only fail to solve the problems but will cause damage and complicate the situation.

He voiced Iran’s readiness to offer any assistance to help resolve the existing problems between the two countries through political means.

The Turkish foreign minister, for his part, explained the current situation and the positions of the country. He praised the constructive role of the Islamic Republic and it was agreed for the two sides to continue their contact.
