A fire that broke out last night (February 16) in a house in Konya, central Türkiye, killed seven people from a family from Syria, the state-run Anadolu Agency (AA) reported.
The family had just recently moved to Konya to stay at their friends’ place after surviving the devastating February 6 earthquakes in Maraş.
Firefighting teams responded to the fire in the house in the Yediler neighborhood in Karatay district. However, the roof of the house collapsed during the intervention.
After the fire was put out the teams reached dead bodies of seven people from the same family and learned that they came from Nurdağı, Maraş, and that they were earthquake victims.
The other family staying in the house as renters who were injured were taken to the hospital.
The dead bodies were taken to the morgue at the Konya City Hospital and an investigation was started. (HS/EMK/PE/VK)
