What Personal Data We Collect and Why
Comments
When visitors leave comments on our site, we collect the data provided in the comments form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent to assist in spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (a hash) may be shared with the Gravatar service to check if you are using it. You can view Gravatar’s privacy policy here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After your comment is approved, your profile picture will be visible publicly alongside your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, please avoid uploading images containing embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the site can download and extract location data from these images.

Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt-in to save your name, email address, and website in cookies for convenience. This prevents you from needing to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies last for one year.
For registered users, when you log in, we will set up temporary cookies to determine if your browser accepts cookies. These cookies do not contain personal data and are discarded when you close your browser. Login cookies last for two days, while screen preferences cookies last for a year. Selecting “Remember Me” will keep you logged in for two weeks. Upon logging out, the login cookies are removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser containing the post ID of the article, which expires after one day.
Embedded Content from Other Websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves the same as if you had visited that website directly. These external websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content, especially if you are logged in to their services.

Who We Share Your Data With
How Long We Retain Your Data
If you leave a comment, both the comment and its metadata are stored indefinitely. This allows us to automatically approve follow-up comments instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For registered users, we store the personal information provided in your user profile. All users can view, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except the username). Website administrators can also see and edit this information.
Your Data Rights
If you have an account or have left comments on our site, you may request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you’ve provided. You can also request that we erase your personal data, except for any data we are required to retain for administrative, legal, or security reasons.
Where We Send Your Data
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
