General Function

The Instructor NT is a non-tenure track position with responsibilities to teach full-time and to provide appropriate service. The Instructor NT may participate in research or creative activities.

Description of Primary Duties

Full-time, ten-month Instructor position in the School of Hospitality & Agricultural Leadership at Missouri State University teaching undergraduate courses and serving as the program coordinator for agriculture education. Teach a standard load of twelve undergraduate course credits per academic semester. Courses may include Introduction to Agriculture Education, Methods of Teaching, and related courses. Supervise student teaching and practicum experience for students in agriculture education. Provide academic advising to undergraduate students. Collaborate with colleagues at the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, as well as the Missouri State University College of Education. Coordinate FFA events for the College of Agriculture.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications

An earned terminal degree or the degree required for teaching in certain disciplines is required. Potential or demonstrated teaching ability is required. A willingness to serve the academic unit, college, and the University is required.

Additional Qualifications

A master’s degree with emphasis in Agricultural Education or in a related field relevant to the position; a valid teaching certificate in Agriculture Education, strong interpersonal, leadership, communication, teaching and programming development skills. Relevant classroom teaching experience is required.
