Position Summary
The Director of Medical Staff Services will have primary responsibility for coordinating Asante’s centralized credentialing and the State of Oregon’s Common Credentialing Program. They will:
- Manage, direct, coordinate, facilitate, and allocate resources for the credentialing of physicians and allied health professionals requesting privileges or affiliation with all the Asante hospitals and Asante Physician Partners.
- Supervise the credentialing specialists responsible for completing primary source verification of these practitioners for initial appointment and reappointment.
- Ensure regulatory and institutional compliance with credentialing standards for the Organized Medical Staff and Advance Practice Professionals, including DNV, CMS, State, Hospital and Medical Staff organizational requirements.
- Responsible for survey event and accreditation event management and oversight where necessary as it pertains to the functions of the medical staff and the medical staff credentialing and privileging processes.
- Oversight of governance functions performed for the Organized Medical Staff, including Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, Departmental Rules and Regulations, Policies and Procedure.
- Provide oversight, support, and coordination for the Medical Staff Peer review and Credentialing Committees and their activities.
- Work with the medical staff services coordinators to support Medical Executive Committees at each facility. Partner with the VPMA/CMO to ensure compliance with physician payments for leadership and committee services.
- Direct responsibility for preparing and delivering required documentation and communication and an informed medical staff.
- Develop and maintain positive professional relationships between staff, the Organized Medical Staff, hospital leadership and other divisions of the organization.
- This position also provides oversight for the payor enrollment team, medical education, and continuing medical education programs, and medical library services.
Position Qualifications
Experience
- 5 years’ experience as a credentialing manager or a medical staff coordinator in a hospital or health system, required
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, business administration or equivalent experience, required
- Master’s degree in healthcare or business administration, preferred
Certification/Licensure
- PESC: Provider Enrollment Specialist Certificate within 1 year of hire, required
- CPMSM: Certified Professional Medical Services Management, required
