How can you make a difference? 

UNICEF in Vientiane, Lao PDR is looking for a National consultant Nutrition Sensitive Social Protection. The duration of this assignment is 12 months, starting as soon as possible and The work modality will require a combination of office-based and home-based work

Summary of key functions/accountabilities:

The purpose of this assignment is to provide coordination, analysis, tool development, training support, and reporting to support the drivers of wasting analysis and strengthen referral systems, the consultant shall:

  • Coordination and Stakeholder Engagement
  • Data & Documentation Support for Drivers of Wasting Analysis
  • Support with the Development of Referral Instruments and SOPs of identified cases of wasted children
  • Support Training Curriculum Development & Rollout
  • Reporting & Technical Documentation

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Minimum requirements:

Education:

Advanced degree in Public Policy, Social Protection, Public Health, Nutrition, Economics, Development Studies or related field.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum 7–10 years’ experience in social protection, nutrition‑sensitive programming, or systems strengthening.
  •  Proven experience in nutrition‑social protection linkages, child wasting, or vulnerability targeting.
  • Experience with Social Registries, MIS systems, PMT design, or digital tools. Knowledge of Lao government structures, policies, and sub‑national systems.
  • Strong analytical, facilitation, and partnership‑building skills.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical, facilitation and communication skills, including experience conducting multi-stakeholder consultations, technical workshops and policy dialogue.
  • Excellent drafting skills in English with the ability to produce technical guidance, analytical reports, training materials and policy briefs.

Language Requirements:

Excellent command of English and Lao.

Desirable

Knowledge and experience on working on disability inclusion, disability sensitive social protection, disability screening
