Accounts Receivable Specialist – Job Description
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail‑oriented and dependable Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing incoming payments, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring timely collection of outstanding invoices. The ideal candidate is organized, customer‑focused, and comfortable working with numbers in a fast‑paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Process customer invoices, credit memos, and statements accurately and promptly.
- Monitor accounts for overdue payments and follow up with customers via phone, email, or mail.
- Apply customer payments to the correct accounts and invoices.
- Reconcile accounts receivable ledger to ensure accuracy and resolve any discrepancies.
- Maintain detailed records of billing, payments, and customer interactions.
- Work closely with internal departments (Sales, Customer Service, Accounting) to resolve billing issues.
- Prepare aging reports and assist with month‑end closing activities.
- Support audits by providing documentation and reports as requested.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- Previous accounts receivable or general accounting experience is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (especially Excel); experience with accounting software preferred.
- Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and work independently.
