Position Overview

The Education USA Adviser at USIEF Mumbai provides impartial advice on U.S. higher educational opportunities, assisting students with program research, financial aid, U.S. university application process and its components as well as pre-departure preparation. The Education USA Adviser is responsible for coordinating educational advising programs and leading presentations on U.S. higher education topics, while managing outreach initiatives across Western India under the supervision of the Regional Officer and with guidance from the Senior Adviser, to promote awareness and access to these opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Student Advising and Virtual Programming: Offer guidance on the U.S. admissions process, including application requirements, financial aid, choosing among admission offers and pre-departure preparation. Conduct one-on-one sessions, group advising, and webinars. Manage social media strategies to promote EducationUSA events and engage students.
  • Outreach Programs: Deliver educational advising programs to raise awareness of U.S. higher education. Engage in education fairs, workshops, and high school or college talks across assigned regions.
  • Networking: Build relationships with U.S. and Indian educational institutions to coordinate outreach activities.
  • Research and Content Development: Stay informed on educational trends, support content creation for advising materials, and serve as a resource on the Indian educational system for U.S. institutions.
  • Event Coordination: Support the Regional Officer (Center Head) in executing logistical aspects of events, including venue arrangements and promotional materials.
  • Library and Resources Management: Source and recommend new resources to support the EducationUSA library.
  • Reporting and Administrative Support: Contribute to monthly reporting, database management, and manage the front desk on a rotational basis.
  • Center Management: In the absence of a senior adviser, support the Regional Officer in center management and planning key strategic programming for the region. 

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline; preference for a U.S. university degree.

Experience:

  • Minimum of two years of relevant work experience, particularly in student advising or education.

Skills and Competencies:

  • High level proficiency in English required
  • Strong preference for proficiency in Gujarati
  • Knowledge of U.S. and Indian higher education systems
  • Strong public speaking, advising, and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with MS Office, CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce), and social media tools
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a commitment to cross-cultural exchange

Additional Requirements:

This full-time position requires extensive travel and may involve evening and weekend work.
