Position description

The Civil Peace Service (CPS) is a program for the prevention of violence and the promotion of peace in crisis and conflict regions. As a seconded professional in the CPS, you will be committed to partner organizations that are advocating for social justice, peace and the protection of human rights on the ground. The organizations are part of a national network of peace organizations and unite their efforts for sustainable and impactful social transformation.

Thabyay foundation is committed to promoting social justice in Myanmar and reconciliation between different ethnic and religious groups. Thabyay offers a wide range of educational programmes. Thematic priorities include gender issues, global conflicts, civil leadership, political systems, environmental concerns, project management and basic economic knowledge.

Thabyay’s work with young people in Myanmar is highly relevant amid the violence for a generation that has few opportunities for education and participation.

The professional will be working from Mae Sot, Thailand. Other locations would need to be agreed upon.

Your Responsibilities

Building on a successful previous project that strengthened alumni leadership, mental‑health initiatives, networking and partner security, the professional will contribute to sustain and expand alumni‑led community resilience and programming.

In particular, you are responsible for the following:

      • You will advise the Thabyay team on project management and coordination, with a focus on peacebuilding aspects and effective follow‑up on implementation.
      • You will guide youth in story‑collection activities to document experiences and amplify their voices.
      • You will contribute to community and alumni engagement by developing and implementing systematic, participatory communication and feedback strategies.
      • You will support partnership and stakeholder collaboration by assisting with donor mapping, prospecting, and the preparation of donor briefs, concept notes, and proposal inputs.
      • You will support coordination of donor visits and the production of external communications and visibility materials.
      • You will assess project impact and provide recommendations on monitoring, learning, and accountability to inform future development and sustainability

Qualifications

What you bring to the table:

      • You have an university degree in a relevant field.
      • You have relevant professional experience in development cooperation and project management
      • You have an affinity for working with youth and communities.
      • You have good intercultural communication skills and are willing to perform the majority of your work tasks online.
      • Your very good English skills enable you to communicate with partners; you are open to learning the Burmese language intensively.
      • You are able to respond actively, flexibly and solution-oriented to unexpected situations and challenges.
      • You have a high level of intercultural sensitivity and communication skills and are willing to perform the majority of your work tasks online.
      • We are looking for internationally experienced candidates. For this position, a minimum of 5 years proven working/ living experience outside of Myanmar is required.
