Position description

Reporting to the Senior Director of Development, the Assistant Director of Development is responsible for managing key functions of the fundraising activities at the CGEP. The incumbent will support and contribute to culturally diverse and inclusive communications, reflected across CGEP’s scholarship, work environment, and partnerships.

Responsibilities

      • Preparing briefings, donor reports, acknowledgements, prospect research, and funding proposals.
      • Maintaining relationships with donors, advisory board members and individual donors and prospects including staffing visits with the Senior Director of Development and Center leadership and stewardship communications and outreach.
      • Planning, implementing, and coordinating meetings with the advisory board, executive committee, donors, and other strategic meetings.
      • Responding to donor queries for proposals, research updates, stewardship materials, etc.
      • Designing, tracking, and implementing stewardship plans.
      • Tracking pledge payments, pledge reminders, gift agreements, and new and recurring gifts.
      • Building and maintaining critical functions of the Center’s strategic development efforts, including systems for donor tracking, recognition, and stewardship.
      • Creating acknowledgments, financial, and narrative reports; and managing prospect engagement, including research, scheduling meetings, and briefing.
      • Responsible for drafting correspondence, proposals, gift agreements, and meeting briefings, tracking pledges and pledge reminders, and coordinating communication among the development team, the Center Director and other key staff.
      • Interact on a regular basis with external partners, including donors, prospects, advisory board members, and others.
      • Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned/requested.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

      • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent required.
      • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of related experience is required.
      • Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite) and database experience required.
      • Must have demonstrated success managing high-level donor relationships and events.
      • The capacity to clearly comprehend and communicate SIPA’s mission and ongoing initiatives is required.
      • Some evening work is required.

Preferred Qualifications

        • Prior experience in a not-for-profit or similarly complex organization is preferred.

Other Requirements

      • Demonstrated excellence in a variety of competencies including: project management, fundraising event planning, teamwork and client/customer awareness.
      • Ability to work with changing priorities and multiple projects. Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, with attention to detail.
      • Must be able to problem-solve and troubleshoot, in addition to the ability to work independently in a dynamic team environment.
      • Demonstrated ability to effectively partner with a diverse group of administrators and academic leaders.
      • Demonstrated ability to lead and build an inclusive workplace where diversity and individual differences are valued and leveraged to achieve the vision and mission of the organization.
      • Subject to business needs, the Office of Alumni Relations and Development supports a hybrid work arrangement for this position. Options will be discussed during the interview process.
