Position description

The Department of Government at Dartmouth College invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor of Comparative Politics. We are particularly interested in scholars who study East Asia, Southeast Asia, and/or South Asia. Applications by researchers whose areas of expertise intersect traditional subfields in political science are welcomed. Teaching responsibilities will include an introductory course on comparative politics as well as other courses in the candidate’s areas of expertise.

Dartmouth’s Government Department is a leading center for political science research and teaching. Our faculty are prominent researchers working at the forefronts of their fields. We host one of the largest undergraduate majors on campus, with more majors than any other political science department in the Ivy League. Our department also maintains close connections to related departments and academic centers at Dartmouth including the John Sloan Dickey Center for International Understanding, the Nelson A. Rockefeller Center for Public Policy, and Dartmouth’s Ethics Institute. Applicants for this position may choose to participate in activities organized by or collaborate with colleagues in the Department of Asian Societies, Cultures, and Languages and/or the Asian American Studies initiative.

Qualifications

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in political science or a closely related field or be ABD with a Ph.D. expected before the start date of the appointment. Effective classroom teaching is essential for this position.
