The strategic directions to address these priorities are broadly in line with WHO’s 13th General Programme of Work 2019–2023 endorsed in May 2018 by the Seventy first World Health Assembly. As the lead health agency, WHO works with different partners to support the Government of Ethiopia to achieve universal health coverage and the Sustainable Development Goals.
Context
The UHC LC Cluster is currently supporting key national initiatives including assessments on causes of mortality in stabilization centres, development of a Health Workforce Investment Charter, and implementation of national Human Resources for Health (HRH) strategies. These initiatives involve multiple stakeholders, including the Ministry of Health, development partners, and implementing agencies.
Effective communication, documentation, and knowledge translation are critical to ensure that technical findings and policy processes are translated into actionable insights and accessible products for policymakers, partners, and the public. This UN Volunteer assignment will provide cross-cutting communications support to enhance visibility, documentation, and dissemination of UHC-related interventions and results.
Task description
• Support the development and implementation of communication plans for UHC LC Cluster priorities
• Translate technical and policy content into clear, accessible communication products for diverse audiences
• Draft and edit communication materials including briefs, reports, success stories, and talking points
• Document key programme activities including meetings, workshops, field missions, and stakeholder consultations
• Support development of knowledge products capturing lessons learned and best practices
• Coordinate production of multimedia content including videos, photographs, and digital assets
• Liaise with consultants and vendors involved in audio-visual production and ensure quality and compliance with WHO standards
• Support development of content for digital platforms and social media channels
• Adapt communication materials for different audiences including policymakers, partners, and communities
• Provide communication and facilitation support for national events, policy dialogues, and dissemination workshops
• Support preparation of communication packages for high-level meetings and advocacy engagements
• Maintain organized documentation and communication archives
• Ensure all outputs adhere to WHO communication, ethical, and safeguarding standards
• Provide additional communication support across UHC LC Cluster activities as required.
