Description:
The Missourian, an award-winning, twice-a-week newspaper in the growing community of Washington, Mo., is looking for an enterprising general assignment reporter.
The right candidate is smart, curious and has a passion for news gathering to support The Missourian’s print and online platforms that won the Gold Cup in the Missouri Press Association Better Newspaper Contest the last three years.
Responsibilities include a variety of news and feature stories, covering local schools, crime and courts, government and community events.
In addition to excellent reporting and writing skills, the right candidate must work well under pressure and be able to meet deadlines. Social media and basic photography skills are required. A journalism degree or comparable experience is preferred, but we will train the right candidate.
Independent and locally-owned, The Missourian has been owned and operated by the Miller family since 1937 when James L. Miller discovered the picturesque town nestled on the Missouri River and made a commitment to not only tell the community’s stories fairly and accurately, but take a leading role in its growth. We’re looking for candidates who share our passion, commitment and work ethic.
Washington is known for its exceptional quality of life, ample amenities, excellent health care, diverse shopping and dining opportunities as well as a vibrant arts and culture scene with a lot of outdoor recreation opportunities.
We offer a very competitive pay and benefits package, including a 401K savings plan, PTO plan and health and dental insurance.
Send cover letter, resume, published writing clips and references to:
