As Legal Operations Specialist/Senior Paralegal, you will play a key role in driving success on a variety of legal initiatives that enable CARE to deliver critical humanitarian support and implement programs that help people around the world to overcome poverty and achieve social justice. You will work closely with a team of highly dedicated lawyers on a range of topics such as contracting, corporate governance, litigation and other essential in-house legal functions. You will develop and enhance processes to drive innovative ideas, deliver results and improve the day-to-day efficiency and operational maturity of the legal team. The role also requires cross-functional collaboration with stakeholders in multiple geographies and time zones


Legal Department Processes and Projects

  • Lead project management of Legal Department initiatives
  • Evaluate and implement new or improved technology solutions, including contracts management, e-signature, compliance management and other digital tools
  • Implement and manage key Legal department processes, including outside counsel invoice processing, pro bono counsel contribution tracking, and various surveys, including board conflict of interest and contingent liability surveys.
  • Develop and maintain a repository of SOPs and information for Legal Department staff
  • Serve as records custodian for the Legal Department. Establish and maintain Legal Department SharePoint sites and files in compliance with records retention guidelines and policies and promote information management best practices within the Legal Department
  • Help manage the Legal Department’s annual goals, objectives, key results, and other metrics and reporting
  • Facilitate a culture of continuous improvement to provide scalable legal services and enhance efficiencies
  • Conduct legal research as necessary
  • Perform administrative support and other Legal Department responsibilities as assigned

Registrations and Governance Support

  • Assist country offices in various registration and legal authorization requirements, including processing and maintaining Powers of Attorney and other corporate documentation
  • Facilitate notarization, certification, or apostilles of official documents
  • Project manage registration and deregistration efforts and assist with subsidiary governance and corporate secretarial functions

Contracts Management

  • Prepare and review routine contracts, certificates and other related documents, and maintain contract templates and toolkits.
  • Develop and manage the Legal team’s contract intake and review process

Litigation / Dispute Resolution

  • Manage subpoenas and other similar third-party legal notices served on CARE, and coordinate responses to requests for information received in relation to contested matters.
  • Review and monitor reports from country offices regarding legal disputes and litigation


  • Undergraduate degree
  • At least 5 – 8 years prior experience working in a legal operations, paralegal or similar role in a legal department or law firm
  • Advanced proficiency with common office technology, including the Microsoft Office suite and SharePoint
  • Technology savviness, including experience and comfort working in new and innovative software and database applications
  • Ability to problem solve, exercise independent judgment, adapt to changing priorities and work productively under minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
