A key member of the 18-person unit charged with managing the Fulbright Program in the Middle East and North Africa, the Program Manager is responsible for independently managing enrichment projects and university relations and will also manage a caseload of Fulbright students.
- Lead the development, planning, and implementation of Fulbright re-entry and enrichment workshops
- Coordinate staff participation in Fulbright enrichment activities and orientations
- Develop university relations and outreach plan for augmenting Fulbright placement and cost share opportunities
- Train staff on and coordinate their participation in outreach travel
- Manage the placement and supervision of a caseload of Fulbright students from the Middle East & North Africa in degree programs at U.S. universities
- Communicate with students, State Department, field offices, Fulbright Commissions, U.S. embassies, U.S. Academic institutions, and other agencies concerning program-related matters
- Supervise a Program Assistant and assign workload
- Forecast student costs, develop individual student grant budgets, approve grant payments, track and audit student disbursements; and negotiate financial aid opportunities on behalf of nominees
- Serve as Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) on the Fulbright Exchange Visitor Program designations
- Assist in the hiring of new staff
- Represent Fulbright and Amideast at professional conferences and public events
- Assist with revising program documents and manuals
- Draft statistical and narrative reports
- Assist with refining program operations and procedures
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum of 6-8 years’ experience in project coordination and management
- Previous supervisory experience required
- Experience with exchange visitor programs (J-1)
- Ability to maintain and organize a large amount of detailed information (including budgetary and participant related information)
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently
- Proficiency with MS Office, particularly with Excel Preferred
- Master’s degree preferred
