The incumbent will work under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative (FAOR) or Deputy FAO Representative (DFAOR) in Afghanistan. S/he will work under the overall guidance of the Senior Emergency and Rehabilitation Officer (Head of Programme) in Afghanistan. S/he will work under the direct supervision and report on a day-to-day basis to the Emergency and Rehabilitation Officer (Programme).

The incumbent will be providing support to the Programme Unit and the country office on reporting functions (donor reports, corporate reports etc.). S/he will also work in close coordination with the various functional leads in the country office, region and HQ on the required information and ensure timely and quality documentation and submission of documents.

Responsibilities:

S/he will be responsible for the below tasks:

  • •    Initiate and participate in the end-to-end preparation and documentation of all reports, take ownership of the entire process from the development stage until the donor final approval.
  • •    Prepare, in close consultation with technical teams, and or review narrative reports and provide progress updates to donors on quarterly, monthly basis or as may be required.
  • •    Support the overall revision and proofreading for timely submission of progress and final narrative reports of the emergency and resilience and Basic Human Needs (BHN) focussed projects, paying attention to detail and ensuring quality control in-line with corporate standards, including FAO corporate.
  • •    Collaborate on the development and/or review of the FAO corporate reports (year-end report, country annual report) and UNCT level reports (UNSFA, SR) etc.
  • •    Complete the desired information and/or edit various resource mobilisation documents – concept notes, leaflets, presentations, etc. 
  • •    Design standardized templates for the reporting team and guide and develop their capacities in writing succinct reports.
  • •    Support programme planning and development concept notes for project proposals to donors and assist with the approval process.
  • •    Coordinate and closely collaborate with FAO HQ PSR and OER reporting teams as and when required for the finalisation of terminal reports, especially for terminal reports to be submitted in donor templates.
  • •    Coordinate capacity development of international and national staff involved in reporting tasks of the Programming and Reporting team. 
  • •    Establish effective collaboration with FAO Afghanistan project focal points, Technical Leads, MEAL, Cash and Vouchers team, Emergency and Resilience team, Risk Analysis team, Communications team for project reporting.
  • •    S/he will participate in selection process and may supervise personnel as may be required. 
  • •    Any other tasks as may be required by the supervisor.

Minimum Requirements:

  • •    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Political or Social Science, Economics, Public Administration, International Development Studies or related field.
  • •    At least 5 years of relevant experience in report writing for development projects/ programmes or related field. 
  • •    Excellent written and spoken English with full proficiency (level C). Knowledge of a second FAO language will be an asset.

Technical/Functional Skills :

  • •    Work experience in more than one location or area of work; 
  • •    Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • •    Familiarity with the UN system, with a particular focus on writing donor and corporate reports.
