Verite News, a Black-led, nonprofit newsroom, was founded in 2022 by two veterans of the Times-Picayune, Terry Baquet and David Francis. Verite has a two-fold mission: to use the power of journalism to expose and dismantle inequities that affect vulnerable populations and to educate the next generation of journalists through our news fellowship program.

Open Position

Location: New Orleans, LA

Beat: Visual journalist/videographer

Position:

Verite’s visual journalist/videographer will document and report on a mix of breaking news items and visuals for long form investigative and enterprise stories. This journalist will also produce videos to accompany stories and videos for social media content.

This position is in partnership with CatchLight. The corps member will be a CatchLight Local Fellow and along with the host newsroom, be supported by the CatchLight Local Visual Desk.

Salary and Benefits:
$55,000 to $60,000, depending on experience and skill levels.

Medical, option for dental and vision, simple IRA (retirement plan), 29 PTO Days, company issued laptop and use of a camera.

This position will be:
Fully in-person at an office

Moving Stipend:
Up to $1,500
