Description:

PEI Group is hiring a California-based, institutional investor-focused correspondent to join our welcoming, diverse and growing team.

The successful candidate would be part of a specialized unit of dedicated journalists working in collaboration with our wider editorial and research teams to deliver market-leading analysis, data and insights related to institutional investors focused on private market investment strategies. PEI Group currently has more than a dozen brands focused on distinct private markets asset classes, where such investors operate. These include Private Equity International, Buyouts, Venture Capital Journal, Private Equity Real Estate, Private Debt Investor, Infrastructure Investor and New Private Markets.

The West Coast Correspondent’s beat would be reporting on capital flows and related trends in private equity, debt, real estate, infrastructure and venture capital through the lens of the institutional investor community, which includes public and private pensions, foundations and endowments, insurance companies, family offices and sovereign wealth funds. Our publications aim to be the leading source of insight for and about such investors and their private markets activities and ambitions.

Your main responsibilities will include building a network of institutional investor sources and generating proprietary content from that network.

Work can span various mediums and formats including breaking news, features and analysis, commentary and other forms of journalism like podcasts or video interviews. The team also works closely with our research department to ensure we offer subscribers robust and actionable data on institutional investors and their private markets programs, and in turn feature such data appropriately in our editorial coverage.

Occasional travel to industry events and meet-ups will also be an important part of connecting with the markets we cover and cater to; this may sometimes include working with PEI’s in-house conferences team to help moderate panels or keynote interviews. Periodic travel to PEI offices may also be required.
