Hourly Rate: $17.95 per hour

Background/ Anera Summary:
Since 1968, Anera has helped refugees and others hurt by conflicts in Palestine, Lebanon and Jordan live
with purpose and hope.
Anera, which has no political or religious affiliation, works on the ground with partners in Palestine
(West Bank and Gaza), Lebanon and Jordan. We mobilize resources for immediate emergency relief and
for sustainable, long-term health, education, and economic development. Our staff serve in their
communities, navigating the politics that constrict progress to get help where it’s needed most.
That’s how Anera received more than $171 million in support of programs in 2023 alone, and it’s how
we will keep building better lives until hope finds its way in the Middle East.

Objective of the Internship:
The writing intern will contribute to the functions of the Communications Team, while gaining valuable
insights in the field. They will learn about the NGO-sector and how to create public-facing media, as well
as how to work in a professional setting.

Scope of Internship:
The writing intern will be expected to work at least 15 hours per week, between the hours of 9-5
Mondays-Fridays, with the exact schedule being flexible. The position can be done remotely, though the
ability to come into the D.C. office occasionally is a plus.

Key Deliverables:
The writing intern will consistently write, edit, and post digital content, including stories, informational
blog posts, and graphics. They will work with the Communications Team on other projects, such as an
intern capstone, public statements, and response log entries, as needed.

Timeframe and Reporting:

The writing intern will report directly to Steve Fake, though consistent communication with the rest of
the Communications Team is expected. The intern will also interact regularly with the Fundraising and
Business Development teams.

Qualifications

The writing intern should have experience with digital editing, and will ideally have earned or be earning
a degree in a writing heavy major, such as English, History, Journalism, etc.. They should be a strong
communicator with organizational skills. Experience in public-facing or educational communications is a
plus.
