The Department of History at the University of Missouri is seeking applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor in Public History with an emphasis in US History. While the areas of specialization are open, we are interested in scholars whose work includes a transnational or global dimension. The successful candidate will be expected to teach an upper division introductory course to the field of Public History, two sections of our pre-Civil War US Survey course, as well as three additional courses of their choosing. Ideally, at least one of these additional courses would be a specialized public history course, possibly engaging in contemporary questions of commemoration, memorialization, or historical memory and changing notions of identity and belonging. Applicants who have integrated inclusive pedological approaches into their courses, who have experience working with diverse range of people, and/or who can contribute to a climate of inclusivity are encouraged to apply and to highlight their experiences in their cover letter.

Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in History by time of appointment.

Candidates will be evaluated on their teaching experience and research.
