JOB DUTIES: Responsible for teaching survey courses and upper level seminars specifically related to World or European history and historiography. Deliver lectures, moderate classroom discussions and develop detailed course syllabi based on assigned history readings, course textbooks and professional experience in accordance with college and history department standards. Mentor, supervise and direct undergraduate research in history. Demonstrate strengths in developing students, disciplinary engagement, professional development and personal growth in and outside of the classroom. Independently lead scholarly endeavors focused in History research development, which leads to the development of external funding sources. Participate in departmental and college committees, providing professional and public service to the department, college and community.

HOURS: 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday

LOCATION: Gardner-Webb University, 110 South Main Street, Boiling Springs, NC 28017

Requirements

Main Experience: Requires a Doctorate degree in History or closely related field of study and two (2) years’ of post-doctorate lecturing experience related to World or European history and historiography.

Special Skills: Also requires experience in the following:
2 years’ developing detailed course syllabi based on assigned history readings, course textbooks and professional experience;

2 years’ pursuing scholarly endeavors resulting in peer-reviewed publications;

2 years’ independently led scholarly endeavors focused in History research development, which lead to developments of external funding sources; and

2 years’ scheduling and holding office hours for professor-student consultations as appropriate.
