The Department of Women’s and Gender Studies is seeking an instructor for a Gendered Globalization: Economic, Political, and Cultural Dimensions. This course is crosslisted with Sociology and Political Science and between the 400 (upper division undergraduate) and 500 (Master’s) level. This course approaches globalization as a gendered, multidimensional process. It provides an overview of how the economic, political and cultural dimensions of globalization impact gender inequalities across countries and cultures. The course examines the intersections of gender and class, race, ethnicity, location and sexualities from a transnational comparative approach. In winter 2022, this course will be offered in person on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2-3:15pm.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching may include a number of particular obligations which employees are expected to fulfill, including but not limited to: prepare and instruct assigned course to meet overall course objectives and program goals; preparing syllabi and course materials; assessing student work and performance; establish and maintain an environment conducive to student learning; and assigning and submitting grades in accordance with established Eastern Michigan University policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Graduate coursework in Women’s and Gender Studies and a social science discipline (such as Sociology, Political Science, Anthropology or Geography) is required. A PhD is prefered but ABD candidates will be considered.
