Poole College of Management has four academic departments: Accounting, Business Management, Economics and Management, Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Among our non-degree programs, we offer Executive Education and graduate certificates.
The college houses six initiatives fostering research, learning, and corporate engagement: Business Analytics Initiative, Business Sustainability Collaborative, Enterprise Risk Management Initiative, Entrepreneurship Clinic, Entrepreneurship Collaborative, and Supply Chain Resource Cooperative. The college is fully accredited by the AACSB.
Essential Job Duties The Department of Economics in the Poole College of Management of North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor in an applied microeconomics field studying topics such as labor, education, aging, economic demography, health, empirical industrial organization, or market design.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: 

  • Maintaining a successful research agenda that produces publications in high-quality peer-reviewed journals
  • Being an effective teacher at the graduate and undergraduate levels
  • Participating in research with graduate students
  • Supervising Ph.D. dissertations
  • Providing service to the department, college, and university.

Subject to budget contingencies, the appointment will begin on August 16, 2022. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. by July 1, 2022.

Other Responsibilities Contributing member of department and college faculty.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Candidates must have a Ph.D., or equivalent degree, in the field, along with the potential to conduct distinguished research and provide outstanding teaching and service.
Other Required Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to teach at the graduate and undergraduate levels and potential to supervise Ph.D. dissertations, as well as maintain a successful research agenda that leads to publication in top economics journals.
  • Knowledge of the microeconomic field of studying topics such as labor, education, again, economic demography, health, empirical industrial organization, or market design.
  • Demonstrated teaching interest and ability and the potential to publish in top economics journals.
Preferred Qualifications Ideal candidates will be in the process of establishing a strong record of publication in high-quality peer-reviewed journals, with the potential to teach graduate and undergraduate courses and supervise graduate students.
