At the University of Greifswald’s Department of Political Science and Communication Studies in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, there is a job vacancy expected to be available from 01 April 2022, subject to the provision of funds, for a part-time (65%)
Research Assistant.
The position on offer is limited to a period of 24 months. Payment will be made according to pay group 13 TV-L Wissenschaft.
The successful candidate will work in the project “Can a woman do the job? Introducing a gender perspective on legislative oversight”, funded by the Fritz Thyssen Foundation. Using a mixed-methods design, the project team will investigate whether parliamentarians treat women as ministers differently than men. And if so, to what extent, why, and under which conditions. Job description:
- Active participation in the realisation of the project “Can a woman do the job?”
- Collection of qualitative and quantitative data for the project, including semi-structured interviews with parliamentarians in Germany, Belgium and Denmark
Candidates are explicitly invited to pursue a doctoral degree, preferably engaging with a topic linked to the project.
Job requirements:
required:
- Master’s degree (or comparable) in social science
- Familiarity with the project topic or related areas of comparative politics
- Experience in conducting empirical research projects in the social sciences
- Very good command of written and spoken German and English
- Ability to work independently, think analytically and work in teams
desired:
- basic knowledge of French or Danish or alternatively, willingness to learn these languages
The position is open to all persons, irrespective of gender.
