German ambassador summoned to Turkish MFA in connection with Bundestag vice-speaker’s remarks about Erdogan

The Turkish Foreign Ministry strongly condemned Bundestag Vice Speaker Wolfgang Kubicki’s remarks about President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Anadolu news agency reported.

“We condemn in the strongest terms the offensive statements voiced by Bundestag Vice-Speaker Wolfgang Kubicki against the head of the Turkish state during the election campaign in Lower Saxony,” said Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesman Ambassador Tanju Bilgic.

German ambassador to Ankara was also informed about the harsh reaction on this issue. He was summoned to the Turkish Foreign Ministry on September 27, Turkish media report.

Turkish media reported that Kubicki insulted Erdogan, but did not specify how, but Ukrainian media NV.ua wrote that Kubicki called Erdogan a “sewer rat.”
