CHP leader Kilicdaroglu’s chief advisor Cevikoz has said that a cooperation between the two countries is “requisite.”

A Chinese delegation met with the officials of the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) in Turkey on Monday.

The meeting between the Chinese delegation, led by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Foreign Relations Committee Deputy Chair Qian Hongshan, and the CHP delegation, led by Unal Cevikoz, chief advisor to CHP leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu, took place in CHP’s Istanbul offices.

At the end of a two-hour meeting, the delegations decided to further improve bilateral relations, and to take action for making progress on cooperation concerning solid issues, ANKA news agency reported.

Cevikoz said: “Our cooperation is almost requisite, considering our accumulations and the similarities between our aspects.”

He continued:

“We are going through a crucial period. We have recently celebrated the centennial of the establishment of the Chinese Communist Party, and we will celebrate next year the centennial of the establishment of the Republican People’s Party (…) We aim to make a leap into the 21st century through a rapid adaptation. We see the same objective in the resolutions of CCP’s 20th congress.”

He added:

“We are particularly interested in the achievements of China in science and technology. The leader of our party recently made visits to US and UK to observe technological opportunities on site and to see how we can benefit from these opportunities. In the same context we would like to further develop our vision by observing your achievements.”

Hongshan said:

“CHP is a party with historic roots. It plays very important roles in politics and in society. We are among the first parties to have friendly relations with CHP. Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, your party’s founder, is very famous in China.
