Turkey’s ultranationalist MHP leader Devlet Bahceli has slammed Sweden of being the “puppeteer” of the Koran-burning demonstration held outside the Turkish embassy in Stockholm at the weekend.

“Those who lit a lighter in the hand of a Danish scoundrel and provoked the burning of the Koran, are the designers of insidious politics. The puppeteers have planned, the puppets have burned,” Bahceli said during a parliamentary address to MHP lawmakers on Tuesday.

Also accusing Sweden of being a “stunt” of the United States, “The logic of the Vikings is the same and together with the cowboy mind of the US,” he said, T24 reported.

Threatening Sweden with Turkish army, “I remind the world, especially the Swedish government that Allah is one and his army is Turkish,” Bahceli said.

Rasmus Paludan, the leader of the Danish far-right political party Stram Kurs (Hard Line) has burned a copy of Muslim’s holy book of Koran during a manifestation outside the Turkish embassy in Stockholm on Saturday.

The incident caused outrage in Turkey and Turkish politicians including the President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has blasted Swedish government for allowing such an incident to take place on its soil.

“Those who caused such a disgrace in front of our embassy should not expect any benevolence from us regarding their NATO membership applications,” Erdogan said on Monday.

Bahceli on Tuesday went on saying that “A pervert, a maniac, a devil’s pawn burned our holy book. Those who interpret this raging provocation, this hate-spreading act as freedom of expression and thought, are also partners of the crime.”

Condemning the Koran-burning demonstration as a deeply disrespectful act, Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson on Saturday said that the freedom of expression was crucial to democracy.

“Even if the Viking extensions take their masters behind them, they will not be able to damage the tradition of the Turks, the flag of the Islam, and the honor of our holy place,” Bahceli said, adding that his party would not let Sweden to join the NATO.
